Belleau Wood is considered sacred ground for Marines everywhere. Marines fought ferociously in the battle at Bois de Belleau, and we remember the courage and sacrifices made by those who came before us. It is a somber reminder of the nastiness that war brings but also of the people who valiantly fought for freedom on a global scale.
